California Wildlife Center (CWC) was founded as a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center in 1998. Our facilities are located on 3.5 acres in the Santa Monica Mountains, just above Malibu. We have a state-of-the-art wildlife hospital and emergency room, with six full time and part time staff including a wildlife veterinarian, hospital manager and techs. We operate seven days week with over 40 dedicated volunteers. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release back into the wild, sick injured or orphaned native wildlife. CWC is the only facility in all of Los Angeles and Orange County permitted to rehabilitate fawns by the California Department of Fish and Game. CWC is also one of only five facilities in all of Southern California permitted to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned coyotes by the California Department of Fish and Game. Through the City of Malibu and the National Marine Fisheries, CWC is permitted to rescue seals, sea lions and dolphins along the entire Malibu coast.
